Enjoy the best adventure activities that Southern Chile has to offer with the comfort over 15 years of experience in South American tours. Your trip will center around the town of Pucón where your guides will take you on day and half day excursions. Included in the first week will be activities ranging from rafting, kayaking and hydrospeeding on the local rivers to canyoning, biking, and scenic jaunts. One of the area’s most notable recreational diversions is the chance to climb the active, glacier-covered volcano Villarrica. A day hike will take you to the summit where you may have the chance to peer into the crater to view splashes of lava.
Toward the middle of the trip, we will head south to explore the turquoise water and pristine wilderness surrounding the river Puelo. We will transfer to Puerto Varas to a remote fishing lodge on the shores of the Puelo, a powerful river fed from glacial lakes high on the Argentine border. Abundant fishing, horseback riding, and a visit to the Cochamó Valley, the Yosemite of Chile, will round out our adventures.
We let your interests and energy level guide us to create an exciting and memorable experience.

Many airlines fly from the US to Chile. Here are some of the more popular options:

LanChile from Los Angeles or New York
United or LanChile from Miami or Chicago
Delta from Atlanta
American from Dallas

Upon your arrival in Santiago, you will need to pay your reciprocal entry fee ($131 US), pass through immigration and customs before boarding a short domestic flight South to Temuco (about 1 hour and 15 minutes). We will meet you with ground transportation for the final leg of the journey to our base in Pucón. The drive of about 100 km will take us along the green shores of Lago Villarrica and towards the Andes.

Travel to Chile requires a valid passport with at least 90 days between your travel and the expiration date of your passport. It is not necessary to secure a visa in advance; you will be handed a Tourist Visa (good for 90 days) on the plane. Chile is relatively free from poisonous creatures and plants as well as infectious diseases. No immunizations are required.

2 pairs of pants
2 sweatshirts/long-sleeved shirts/light jackets
4-5 pair of shorts
4-5 short-sleeved shirts
Sandals/walking shoes/hiking boots
Toiletries and necessary medications

Weather is usually nice with temperatures of 80-90 degrees. Mornings and evenings can be cool, and there is a possibility of a day or two of rain. Pucón has all the amenities of a small resort town. There is a large grocery store where most items can be found, should you need anything you might have forgotten.

Linens and towels are provided with your room. Should you need any clothing washed during your stay, we offer a laundry service in the middle of the trip. As a reminder, most airlines limit luggage to two pieces of 50 pounds or less per passenger.

Join Cascade International and Turismo Barraco for the fishing experience of a lifetime. Based on the deep, turquoise waters of the Puelo River in Chile’s southern Lake District, this 8-day trip will transport you to fly-fishing paradise. Fly through Santiago de Chile, south to Puerto Montt and transfer by helicopter from Puerto Montt over breathtaking natural vistas to our base in Puelo.

Our accommodations will be at the remote lodge of Tursimo Barraco located on the shores of the majestic Puelo River. Tranquil moments of fishing are but a short walk past the wood-fired hot tubs and down the rolling bank. During the six days at the lodge, our knowledgeable local guides will take you to prime fishing locations via jet boat, drift boat or motorboat. Depending on the season, you can catch and release rainbow trout, brown trout, speckled trout, Salar and Chinook salmon.

For our final night, we will helicopter back to Puerto Montt, a charming Germanic settlement on the edge of Lago Llanquihue. Tour both Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas to experience the local culture and warm hospitality of the Chilean people as well as gain some insight into Chile’s interesting and varied history.

Cascade International’s Fly-Fishing Getaway includes:
Transportation from and returning to Puerto Montt
Lodging in Puelo and Puerto Montt
Gourmet meals and a sampling of Chile’s renown wines
Guided daily fishing excursions
Appropriate flies
